African Enshin Karate in South Africa competes in a number of major tournaments each year - the SASSU University Games as well as Ashihara Karate’s Sabaki Challenge. In 207, African Enshin was joint hosts of the Sabaki Challenge. Smaller, regional tournaments are also held throughout the year in South Africa.
The rules used in tournaments are "Full Contact" and "Semi-Contact." Semi-Contact uses the clicker system of continuous point scoring. Clicker fighting prepares the student for Full Contact sparring and this and other innovations have made the events exciting to watch.
Some of our events this year include (2008):
28 June - Kyokushin Union International Juniors Championhips
6 July - Swaziland Championships in Mbabane
23 August - 19th Invitational Championships & Sabaki Challenge '2008
